Our Care Philosophy

One of our core values, guiding the philosophy behind each care home is “to build and operate homes that celebrate the wonder of people and provide a quality of care that is delightful.” Ashlands Manor care centre staff strives to enable all of our residents to maintain the highest level of independence whilst working to achieve their full potential whether physical, intellectual, emotional, or social. We believe that to achieve this we need to provide professional, person-centred care, nurturing each resident individually. Our philosophy is guided by exploring and understanding residents' needs, whilst remaining flexible and responsive to all. We are there every step of the way.

Dementia Magic Table

Magic Table - Dementia Care

One of our priorities at Ashlands Manor care home is the use of the “Magic” table or “Tovertafel” in the dementia community. Our Magic Table uses projections, sounds, and sensors to display games and activities that our residents living with dementia can interact with. Literature showcases a lot of research proving that sensory, interactive playing has positive effects on residents with dementia. We encourage residents and their relatives alike to play freely, this is a particularly useful opportunity for children to experience positive play with their older relatives. New Care is one of few care home providers who are leading the way in the UK, by purchasing the “Magic” table as part of our innovative strategy to provide opportunities for our residents living with dementia.

Oomph! Wellbeing Programme

Oomph Wellbeing

Wellbeing is an important aspect of our everyday services at Ashlands Manor care home. To further our care and work we invested in “OOMPH!” wellbeing training which further develops our entire staff team in delivering a 360-degree approach to wellbeing. What this means is that we want to demonstrate a positive impact at all times, the training and support packages enable staff to help our residents with everyday mental stimulation, regular and fun physical activities, as well as forging new connections and enjoying new experiences. Oomph training enables our team to provide care that enhances the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of our residents!

Why You Should Choose Us

Meet the Team

Michaela O'Brien, Home Manager

I started my career in care over 20 years ago as a Care Assistant I knew instantly I wanted to build a career in the care industry and from then I progressed to a Team Leader, Deputy Manager and started my role as a Home Manager 12 years ago. I have experience in managing both nursing and residential homes and always strive to deliver the very best person centred care. I was attracted to New Care Homes as I liked there ethos, vision and values and from the moment I stepped into Ashlands for my interview I felt at home. I am committed to continue to provide person centred, dignified and quality care in my role here and to putting the residents at the forefront of what we do, whilst supporting a fantastic team of staff.

Angela O'Driscoll, Head of Dementia

Merick Williams, Head of Residential

Anne Dowson Park, Wellbeing Coordinator

Ashley Massey, Home Trainer

I admire the difference New Care makes to the residents we all look after. In the two and a half years I've worked with New Care, I have had two promotions and the company have supported me in gaining extra qualifications and experience, which I admire New Care for, they go above and beyond for both the residents and staff members. As the home trainer, I enjoy the flexibility of the work, and meeting a variety of different staff members and showing them just what an amazing company they have come to work for. I admire how New Care stick to their core values, and is represented in everything we all do. They really do make a difference.
