OUR CARE PHILOSOPHY

At Grappenhall Manor, it’s our aim to enable all of our residents to maintain their independence and continue to achieve their full potential either physically, intellectually, emotionally, or socially. We pride ourselves on providing professional, person-centred care, nurturing each care home resident to explore and understand their needs. Although a resident’s care requirements may change over time, the team will be responsive to those changing needs - we’re there for you and your loved one, every step of the way.

Dementia Magic Table

DEMENTIA MAGIC TABLE

‘Magic Tables’ or ‘Tovertafel’ are a key part of our dementia care programme at Grappenhall Manor. There is significant research into the positive effects of play on dementia, and we find that the ‘Magic Table’ has extremely positive benefits for residents living with dementia. Residents and their loved ones can play freely on the ‘Magic Table’, which is a fantastic way for children to spend quality time with older relatives. New Care is one of a small group of providers leading the way in the UK with the ‘Magic Table’ as part of our strategy to provide opportunities for residents living with dementia and their relatives to have fun together.

OOMPH! WELLBEING PROGRAMME

All Grappenhall Manor Care Home staff have taken part in the Oomph! training programme, which is designed to support them in delivering a 360-degree approach to residents’ wellbeing. The Oomph! programme enables our care home staff to deliver everyday mental stimulation, regular fun physical activity, and new experiences and connections to enhance the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of our residents.

Meet the Team

Charlotte Sherrocks, Home Manager

I’m Charlotte Sherrocks and I have worked in health and social care since leaving education qualifying as a registered nurse in 1996. My N.H.S. ward experience was gained in general medicine, trauma and orthopaedics. I also hold a BSc Health and Social Care degree, mentoring, management and clinical qualifications. I left the N.H.S. and joined the private sector where I have undertaken roles including that of General Manager, Clinical Services Manage, Clinical Development Nurse and Regional Support Manager. These opportunities have given me a wealth of knowledge and vast experience in care of the older adult. My passion is to deliver high quality standards and a person centred, individualised approach to care. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, cinema and going to the gym.

Carla Wrigley, Deputy Manager

I trained to become a Registered General Nurse in 2005. During my training I completed a placement in the Intensive Care Unit. I found the fast pace and acute setting fascinating. I stayed in Intensive Care Nursing for 8 years and loved every minute. I then moved to the private sector and my role was to Case Manage Cardiac patients with a strong focus on devising strategies to empower the patients to be an active participant in their own health. My new chapter is at New Care. I started as a Bank Nurse and then, much to my delight, I was successful in achieving the role of Deputy Manager at Grappenhall Manor. I love my job, our wonderful team and our precious residents. I am very proud to be a part of the New Care team and will continue to strive to meet the highest standards of care. In my spare time I enjoy bouldering and Yoga and spending time with my every growing family.

Paige Armstrong, Home Trainer

I have worked in the health and social care sector for 10 years. I started my career as a care assistant whilst I was at university training to be a teacher. I enjoyed working with the elderly and have never looked back. I have worked with New Care since 2020 as I originally started at Formby Manor Care Centre as a Team leader. The opportunity came about for a home trainer at one of our sister homes and I jumped at the chance. I have been a home trainer for 9 months and I am so glad I made the move. I am very passionate about my role and aim to provide top quality training to ensure they are equipped to do their very best at taking care of the residents in our homes. I feel privileged to work for a company that takes such good care of their staff and invest in long term development.
